Governance chart
Interreg V-A Greece-Italy Programme managed and supported by a series of different bodies that are responsible for administering the programme and assisting projects. A clear organisational structure ensures that funds are spent in the best possible way.
In the infographic below you can see which are the public facing (main contact) bodies and which are the internal ones (the governance of the programme). The Joint Secretariat together with each country’s Points of Contact work directly with applicants and project representatives.

Monitoring Commetee
The Monitoring Committee (MC) is the central decision-making body for the Programme and its overall task is to ensure the quality and effectiveness of the Programme’s implementation. Project applications are approved (or not) by the monitoring committee.
AUDIT AUTHORITY
The Audit Authority is responsible for system audits and sample audits of projects.
For Interreg V-A Greece_Italy Programme the Audit Authority is the Financial Control Committee (EDEL) Ministry of Finance – General Accounting Office of the State, Greece. The Executive Director of EDEL is Mr Maravelakis.

The audit authority is assisted by a group of auditors comprising representatives of each partner state.
CERTIFYING AUTHORITY
The Certifying Authority is the body responsible for checking project expenditure, making claims for funding to the European Commission and making payments to projects.
For Interreg V-A Greece_Italy Programme the Certifyng Authority is the Special Service «Certifying and Verifications Authority of Co-funded Programmes», Units A, B and C, Ministry of Economy & Development.

MANAGING AUTHORITY
The Managing Authority (MA) is the body formally responsible for managing the Programme on behalf of the participating partner countries. It is the MA that signs the subsidy contracts on behalf of the Programme with the selected projects.
The Managing Authority of Interreg V-A Greece-Italy Programme is Aggeliki Bouziani, Hellenic Republic, Ministry of Economy & Development.
JOINT SECRETARIAT
The Interreg V-A Greece-Italy Joint Secretariat carries out the day-to-day operational administration of the programme: communication of funding opportunities, support to applicants, evaluation of applications and monitoring of projects, managing technical assistance budget. It also assists all the other programme bodies with their tasks. The Joint Secretariat is based in Bari (Puglia) Italy.
