In the European Year of Youth, Interreg Greece-Italy Programme celebrates the European Cooperation Day with a Concert of ‘Banda Viva’, Youth Band of the Municipality of Acquaviva delle Fonti, born as a learning path of the Musical High School Don Milani and grew up thanks to Apollo Lands project, Network for traditions and heritage in music, financed by the Programme with a view to welding the musical link between tradition and modernity.
The concert will be performed on 20 October h. 18.00 in Bari Levante Fair, Pavilion 152 of Puglia Region.
It is necessary to book the free ticket at the following link https://bit.ly/3CO9Qid.
The music of the band tradition has long origins in Puglia and Greece: the band announces the festival, unites the community and the territory, is a living element of folklore.
It is a moment of celebration to promote the results achieved thanks to the cooperation work between Puglia and Greece, which together face the common challenges of the development of the territory, the promotion of culture, tourism and their own identity.
The musical performance, focused on traditional band music, will feature pieces by composers for orchestras and wind ensembles.
The ensemble has quickly acquired high performing and interpretative skills, performing in several concerts and measuring itself with classical and modern repertoires alongside musicians such as Daniele Sepe, Sergio Cammariere and Cristian Bugatti.
The band is led by Prof. Francesco D’Aniello, referent of the Don Milani High School’s Musical Course, and directed by Maestros Domenico Nuzzaco and Giuseppe Smaldino, who also take care of all the arrangements. The band has had the opportunity to hone improvisational skills in the language of jazz under the guidance of internationally renowned artistic personalities, such as Michel Godard (avant-garde tuba and serpentone soloist) and Livio Minafra (jazz composer and pianist).
BandaViva is the result of the vision of the School Director, Dr. Maria Rosaria Annoscia, and the Mayor of Acquaviva, Dr. Davide Carlucci.
The European Day of Cooperation is an initiative promoted by the European Union, coordinated by the Interact Programme with the support of the European Union and co-financed by the ERDF, European Regional Development Fund. Under the motto ‘Sharing Borders, growing closer’, we celebrate the results of the Interreg V-A Greece-Italy Programme, its challenges and opportunities.
