Interreg Hermes ko meeting

The kick-off meeting of the project “Hermes – Heritage Rehabilitation as Multiplier cultural Empowerment within Social contest” will be held on 5th November 2019 at CIAIA LAB – Nuovo Laboratorio Urbano, in Fasano.

Municipality of Fasano is the Lead Partner of the project. The two Italian partners are Public Apulian Theatre Consortium and Apulian Museum Centre, while the two Greek partners are Greek Ministry of Culture of Sports – Ephorate of Antiquities of Arta and University of Ioannina – Special Account for Research Funds. The Department of Economy of Culture, Tourism and Territory of Puglia Region is also involved as associated partner.

The HERMES project, funded for 2.624.107,23 EUR, aims to strengthen the synergy between public and private institutions to promote and reinforce Greek and Apulian common territorial socio-cultural identity through integrated interventions that include infrastructure works in disused archaeological / cliff sites, accessibility interventions and innovative cultural projects, planned and managed in a sustainable way. The joint intervention between cultural operators and public authorities is fundamental to promote the attractiveness of the involved territories, focusing on local identities and the ancient routes shared by the two countries.

Therefore, the HERMES project involves the vision of elements such as theatre, music and visual arts (short films, video documentaries, etc.) as interesting and strategic tools for the valorization of classical traditions and their return to local and European communities. Particular attention will be given to recent socio-economic developments in the two countries.

Hence, the aim is to build cross-border artistic and cultural promotion services within existing cultural organisations or to create a new public-private partnership.
