Interreg Themis: an agreement to intensify the maritime traffic of small cruise ships and luxury yachts in Monopoli, Barletta and Paxos

The president of the Port System Authority of the Southern Adriatic Sea, Ugo Patroni Griffi, the deputy mayor of the Municipality of Barletta, Marcello Lanotte, and the delegate of the mayor of the Municipality of Monopoli, Stefano Lacatena, subscribed an agreement in order to develop a network of small ports in order to intensify the maritime traffic of small cruise ships and luxury yachts.

The project, that includes the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Crafts and Agriculture of Bari, the Port Authority of Corfu, the City of Gallipoli and the Municipality of Paxos, aims to support the development and activities of the ports Adriatic-Ionic through the identification of new routes and connections, in order to favor territories still untapped from the point of view of cruise tourism.

The project has started with a territorial marketing analysis, that has identified and quantified the tourism flows, identifying a specific market for potential investors. New shipping routes will be identified for small cruises and large yachts, in connection with the existing tourist offers, involving the inland territories in an impact.

In addition, light infrastructure works will be carried out for all ports in the system (Manfredonia, Barletta, Bari, Monopoly, Brindisi), Gallipoli and the port of Paxos.

The project will end in April 2020, the budget is about 2,700.00.00.
