The Kick-off meeting of the project for Icon Wom-En, “Integrating Innovation and Promoting Cluster Organization in WOMen Enterprises”, co-funded for 812.900,10 euro by the Interreg V-A Greece-Italy Programme 2014-2020, took place on 20 November 2018 in Patras (ASTIR Hotel).
The General Secretariat for Gender Equality is the Lead Beneficiary of this project in cooperation with two Italian partners, the National Confederation of Crafts and Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises of Bari and the Municipality of Maglie, and two Greek partners, the Region of Western Greece and the Chamber of Corfu.
Icon Wom-En project, financed under Priority Axis 1 – Innovation and Competitiveness focuses on Women’s entrepreneurship that has been recognized during the last two decades as an important untapped source of economic growth in Puglia and Western Greece regions. The project aims to tackle the common challenge to women entrepreneurship that creates new jobs for women and others and by providing society with different solutions to management, organization and business problems.
Icon Wom-En will develop a mapping of women entrepreneurship and recording of problems of entrepreneurs and potential entrepreneurs (incl. Sexual harassment, administration drawbacks, lack of entrepreneurial education, local societies restrictions, etc.), regional networks and addressing solutions (Specific Needs Addressing Workshops & training) will be produced.
