Precision agriculture in Puglia and Greece: first International Conference of the project TAGs in Brindisi

The First International Conference of the cooperation project TAGs – “Technological and business innovation services to stimulate the local Agro-food ecosystems and to support a cross border collaboration among local action Groups”, financed for € 885.000,00 by the Interreg V- A Greece-Italy Programme 2014 2020, will be held on March 20th 2019, in Brindisi (9:30-13:30), at CETMA (European Research Center for Technologies Design and Materials) headquarters.

TAGs, funded under the Priority Axis 1 “Innovation and Competitiveness)” is coordinated by the Agricultural Research and Economics Council of Bari (CREA) in cooperation with CETMA of Brindisi and the Local Action Group “Land of Trulli and Barsento“, on the Italian side, while, on the Greek side, the Technological Training Institute of the Region of Western Greece and the Region of Western Greece, both based in Patras.

The central theme of the International Conference is the precision agriculture, an innovative strategy applied in agriculture that allows, thanks to the modern technological applications, a significant increase in the productivity of farm, with the respect of the environment, such as the reduction of water consumption and chemicals.

The Conference represents, in fact, an interesting opportunity for representatives of Public Bodies, local stakeholders, universities, research and technology organizations, trade associations, agricultural companies, Local Action Groups for rural development to share experiences, good practices and new ideas, with the final aim of paving the way to future cooperation in the field of precision agriculture.

The challenge of TAGs project is to launch a path to stimulate and promote technological and business innovations in the agricultural sector to create a cross-border cluster composed by research and innovation actors, policy makers and enterprises from Western Greece and Puglia.
