TAGs project: ICT tool for supporting and implementing precision agriculture

On Thursday 19th June 2020, Region of Western Greece in collaboration with University of Patras, Department of Agriculture, presented to greeks stakeholders the ICT tool (platform) for the recording of geospatial data in the field and their storage in a spatial database in the framework of the project TAGs – “Technological and business innovation services to stimulate the local Agro-Food ecosystems”.

This database is an ICT tool for supporting and implementing precision agriculture in the field and Life Cycle Assesment activites. The possibilities of using these ICT tools by companies, stakeholders and local action groups were also discussed during the presentation.

The presentation-workshop was coordinated by the project manager Mrs. E. Kakaridi, agronomist M.Sc., on behalf of the TAGs project team of the Region of Western Greece, and the Assistant Professor Mr. P. Barouchas, project manager on behalf of the University of Patras and scientific director of Soil Laboratory of RWG.

The meeting took place via teleconference and was attended by the Deputy Regional Minister for Rural Development, the General Director of Agricultural Economy, the Director of Agricultural Development of RWG, the President of the Geotechnical Chamber of Peloponnese and Western Greece, as well as representatives of transnational projects in the field of agri-food and innovation: A. Liopa-Tsakalidi – ΑREThOU5A, G. Keramidas – Smart4all, P. Baltzoi – IR2MA, A. Kavga – iNGREEN, K. Tzamaloukas – INCUBA and also the agriculturalist K. Papagiannopoulos, representative of the Agricultural Cooperative of Fruits & Vegetables-Cereals-Olive Oil of Amaliada, Ilia Prefecture “Euphori Gi”.
